Untapable was the horse to beat entering the 2014 Kentucky Oaks and did not disappoint her many fans, posting an emphatic 4 ½-length victory as the even-money favorite.

By leading stallion Tapit, Untapable was bred in Kentucky by owners Winchell Thoroughbreds and is trained by Steve Asmussen. She was ridden by Rosie Napravnik.

Untapable arrived at Churchill Downs following a pair of impressive victories in 2014 prep races, capturing the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra at Fair Grounds by 9 ½ lengths before a 7 ¾-length score in the Fair Grounds Oaks, and her BRIS Speed ratings for those performances (107 in the latter) laid over her Kentucky Oaks rivals.

The bay filly broke from the far outside post among 12 three-year-old fillies in the Oaks and was caught a little wide entering the first turn, traveling comfortably in fourth while racing in striking range during the early stages. Untapable advanced to challenge for the lead midway on the far turn and drew off readily entering the stretch drive.

She easily defeated a nice field of rivals, registering a 108 BRIS Speed rating, and Untapable earned a better Speed number than Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome (103) the following day.
